Hello, Again

Well we're supposed to answer questions about our business project and our business was Charles' grandpa, Jesus Viramontes Gardening Service.
It was kind of cool to work on this project because we got to give his grandpa a website and now he'll probably get more customers.
We finished our project in the sense that all the pages are done but only 2 pages have no buttons but because of time we weren't able to finish. We were able to finish because of teamwork and the advice for next year work until you finish everything because then you will have time left over and then you can enjoy yourself more.
ON average throughout the project i goofed off like an hour on average at the very beginning but at the end of the project i buckeled down.
We worked well together because most of the time we got along and had fun while we were doing out projects but the few times we had arguements was when some people couldn't take a joke or because we were all stressed and having a bad day.

Man as i look over my blog since the very beginning i see that i have learned so many things. I like learning all of these things. The best part of it is that not many people get the opportunity to learn all of these things i have. It's been awesome and this year has been so great and has gone by so fast seriously. I'm gonna miss my classes and i don't want to move on to the 10th grade because of all the work. Well goodbye ninth grade and hello tenth grade.. hey that reminds me of the Beatles song

Website Project

1. I believe my project will finish the project because most of the time we are on task and every one of our team members always contribute to the project and we help everyone out.

2. My group is working as a team because we each have to contribute something and we work well together.

3. We can be more effective by giving everyone jobs at the beginning and listening to each other and not let each other get on our nerves.

I feel that we are slowly getting into working like a team. I think that everyone needs some getting used to before they can all work in a team. I changed my behavior by being a bit more demanding so everyone would do their job. We need to start communicating more so we can be more efficient. Yes because the members of our group actually do their work and ask what they can do which means they're willing to work and do the project.

1. Yes because we all know that we're supposed to work together and we all want a good grade on this project so i know we'll work together.

2.I need to make myself a little bit more assertive and i guess less leiniant because this is a big part of our grade and being assertive will help us stay on track and meet our deadlines.

3.Our team needs to do a good job and we all have to make this in some way fun so we can all enjoy this project and everyone will want to do their part if we all get along and have fun along the way.

4. Right now i do because it seems we can work together but in the course of the project we don't know because you never know if things might go wrong or we'll get a little tense.

I'm an introverted person, i'm a nurterer. I also dislike doing things that i don't like or don't make sense to me.

Jim Crow Law

1. We had to go to PBS and participate in an activity and I choose Voting then & Now. I had to take a literacy test and had to go through strict voting regulations and I wasn't exempt from voting regulations.

2. The point of the activity was ti try to make us see how hard it was for the African Americans to even try to register to vote and even harder was when they actually had to vote if they passed all those hard literary tests and i failed mine and most of the blacks in that time couldn't even understand what it was about because they made it so complicated.

3. I learned that voting for everyone is so much easier than it is now and we should all appreciate that we can vote because voting was much harder than it is now.

Grades

1. What did you do well in first semester?
I did well in my Flash and other assignments like using Excel and other programs. I did well in all of my classes.

2.What did you do poorly in first semester?
I did a little bit bad in my portfolio in Dreamweaver and need a little bit more help and i think i could've done a bit better than i thought i would. I need to study a bit more in Spanish.

What I've Learned

Throughout this whole semester of technology i learned about stuff i didn't even know existed. I learned that making my own portfolio was easier than i imagined, but it was also my most difficult task because it required a lot of things such as picture links, links, fonts, etc... I did almost everything but the most difficult thing in my portfolio turned out to be the most easiest thing ever. The other thing that was hard for me was when i was first introduced to Flash because i didn't know how to do some of the tweens but that turned out to be easy to master.

Yesterday when i was hearing my fav. radio station they mentoined that Slash from Guns N' Roses was going to be inducted into this Walk of Rock (i think) and i was so happy cuz he is a totally good guitar player and he definetly deserves it. He was inducted with other guitar players as well so i was happy yesterday.

Questions about Tom Hayden

1. What did you think of Mr. Hayden?
I thought Mr. Hayden was a really interesting guy because he explained very well what he did in the 60's and why he did it.

2. Tom Hayden does not think of himself as a Civil Rights leader. Do you see him as one? Why or why not?
I do see Tom Hayden as one because he organized people to protests the Vietnam War even when a little bit of people came he didn't give up but kept trying and soon a LOT of people came. He might've not been a civil rights leader helping people with race issues but he helped the crowd get a voice because most of the time the leader does all the talking and the crowds were not acknowledged and he made the crowd get a voice which was a good thing.

3. Tom Hayden feels that leaders are not as important as the hundreds or thousands of people behind them. What does he mean by that?
He means that sometimes the leaders overshadow the people who helped them get to the top and the people who helped them stop what they were opposed to. It's true because the crowds help the people see what most of the people want and if it was just one man not a lot of people would actually listen to what the person wanted. The crowds sometimes are more important than the leaders and it's true because the crowds give the whole state/country a voice.

Portfolio

I have nothing else on my mind to write about so all i have to say is that this whole portfolio thing is super hard and that it gets really annoying after a while to have to be doing this portfolio even if it helps me get a job so hopefully it'll come out right and it'll be just the way i want it to be. This is all i have on mind right now so that's all i could write.

Stop Hurting Yourself Sign

The meaning of the sign "Stop Hurting Yourself" in my interpretation means that we should stop hurting ourselves doing things that aren't good for us and that can affect us other than in our personal lives and that we hurt ourselves often than we think. I think Mr. Hsu put it there so we can see it and think about if we are hurting ourselves and if we are to stop because it isn't good for us. A student can hurt himself when they do something like take a breakup too seriously because then that's the only thing they can think of. It can affect them because they might distance themselves from their friends and in the end the friends may feel guilty thinking they could've helped their friend but didn't do it. In the end the person will hurt themselves and others and then they'll regret not talking about it with their friends which will hurt both them and the friends.

Failure is a Good Thing

The quote i liked the most out of this whole report was "Success is boring. Success is proving that you can do something that you already now you can do...Failure is how we learn." I agree with it because it's true. It's true because when you fail at something you learn something you didn't know about and if you don't fail you don't really learn anything that you already don't know.
One of my biggest failures was when... I can't remember but i guess when i failed my test and i learned that i need to study more because if i don't i'll fail forever!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess to make us think that failing isn't that bad at all and that sometimes it can even be rewarding.

The 3 things

Three things i learned since the first day of school was how to do a commercial using the program Flash which i didn't even know existed. The twp other things that i learned was how to make my own webpage and how to use html code which is easier than i thought it would be.

Three things i want to learn is how to actually put webpages and websites on the internet. I also want to learn how to make my own website by scratch and use other programs that i don't even know about because every time we learn something new it's almost always fun.

My Visit to the Japanese American National Museum

1. What did you like most about the Japanese National Museum?
-The thing that i enjoyed the most about the Japanese American National Museum was when we did oragami because I actually learned how to make a steamboat and shirt, which was pretty cool and fun.

2. Name one thing you learned.
-I learned that J.A.C.L. (Japanese American Citizens League) was involved in the 1963 March on Washington and that many years later after many Japanese were put in imprisonment camps the government gave the surviving Japanese a letter of apology and 20,000 dollars which seems a very little apology for what they went through.

3. What did you learn about the Japanese Experience?
-I learned that even if the Japanese weren't from here they brought their own bits and pieces of their culture to America. I also learned that they respect a lot more things than we do and that there are three generations (Issie, Nisei, and Sansei).

Pay It Forward

1. The theme of this movie is that we should try to do nice things for people and that it's just that easy. The message that it tries to convey is that we should all try to do nice things for people and it's almost no effort on our part.
2.The character i found more interesting is Trevor because many people would've given up if it failed the first time and he kept trying until he didn't know but it spread all the way to L.A.
3.I would have these two best friends who wanted to try pay it forward and travel across the country to help people and it actually works and they actually help people because of pay it forward.

What do i think about this activity

This activity (the angel/chosen one) i think had somewhat effect on the 9th graders because most of them didn't really take it seriously. I think that they were more concerned with other things and that maybe they ended up telling their angel that they were their angel in order not to lose 50 points.
I think if it involved the 10th or 11th graders it would also be the same (as above) because something like this isn't what really clicks in people's mind that this is important and in the end they tell their chosen one.
If we continued this activity for the rest of the year it will be completly ignored until the deadline and then they will actually do something nice for their angel. Anyways this is a thing that most people can't keep a secret and if you don't know who your chosen one is and you go up to them and say they need help it's obvious your their angel and it completly gives it away.

What i've done for my chosen one is that i've helped him in his homework. He was stuck in his ethnic studies homework and i re-explained the directions for him. He got what he was supposed to do and then definetly understood what he was supposed to do. I did something nice for him and this is proof i did do something for him.

1. My first month of high school has been cool and it was exactly what i expected because it's fun and sometimes more than i expected.

Today i was getting ready to go inside Mr. Carr rooms and he saw the picture of Slash that's in my binder and finally a teacher (other than Mr. Hsu) knew who Slash is. He saw Slash two times more times than i have ever seen he also saw him back in the 90's when he was in Guns N' Roses and he also saw him again when he in Velvet Revolver. One of these days i'll see him live and get his autograph.

The 4 New Animo Inglewood Graduates

The article was about the four Animo Inglewood graduates who came from a very bad place in Inglewood. It also was about how messed up their life was inside and outside Animo. It all changed though when one of their friends,Delbert, got a bullet in his intestine. They graduated and now they are going into a 4 year university/college and have all moved in, into one apartment and are going to push theirselves to be the best they can be.

How my life is different from theirs

My life is different from theirs because i don't live in a bad neighborhood but i also don't live in a good one. It's okay and my parents would never let me out anywhere by myself unless i was with them or with my dog Rocky. They know enough about me to know that i'm not involved in any gangs or stuff. I also know that if i want to get ahead i have to do well in school, so i don't mess around and i take my school stuff seriously.

Path to college

What i can do to stay in the right path to college would be that i would never get involved in anything that i wouldn't like and i would always keep my goals in mind so i don't do anything stupid. What i learned was that i have to try my best to succeed and that everything will be fine.

First week of school

1. What did you learn in the first week in my class?
I learned how to use macromedia flash, trust, etc...
2. What did you learn in the first week at Animo Venice?
I learned that Animo wants us to succeed and get into a four year university but also to get comfortable with them to talk about our issues with them and become a family with them.
3. How do you feel about high school at this point?
I'm actually looking forward to going to all my classes because all of my teachers seem really nice and here to help even when its not necessary and they're always here to lend a hand when you need it.
4. What do you need to do so you succeed in high school?
